Personal Responsibility
In the psychiatric community, this is known as displacement. They cannot control themselves, so they get angry at someone else. They are not controlling their sugars, or eating right, or exercising, yet they are complaining about the costs of treating their disease. Costs they are passing onto the rest of America.
My first point is very simple: To have effective health care reform, people must take personal responsibility for their actions. In order to have good Government, you must exercise Self Government.
The attitude in America is that we should be able to do anything we want without consequence, or minimal consequences. We need to change that attitude, and make America great again. It is a problem in America that whatever problem we have, we expect someone else to fix it, despite the fact we are the ones responsible for the problem.
My other point about this story is also very simple. My Uncle Sam had diabetes since he was a teenager. When he was first diagnosed, he didn't have many options. There were no medications, no finger stick devices, no way short of a glucose challenge test to tell where his sugars were. In the 50 years since then, we now have virtually painless finger stick kits, multiple medications, and advanced insulin mixtures for virtually painless injections when needed. We also have insulin pumps for those diabetics that are difficult to control with spaced injections.
Did any socialist country come up with this diabetic technology? No. It was the American entrepreneurial spirit that developed these devices and medications to make treating diabetes easier. How many people in Europe, or Asia, or Russia, do you think have an insulin pump? No one does. It's too expensive. But there are thousands of people in the US with insulin pumps, because we don't have the government making our health care decisions.
